Timex
I wrote this to Timex Customer Support on 10-25-97:
| I bought a Timex IRONMAN Triathlon
5-27-97. This watch is supposed to be water resistant to
100 meters. Today I got rained on and it fogged up and
then went blank. It seems to me that waterbouncing off of
the surface of it is a far cry from 100 meters. How do
you explain that? I see that in addition to shipping, I am expected to spend $5 more on this watch to have it work like it was supposed to in the first place. What kind of a warranty is that when I have to pay to have it enforced? I shall await your reply to determine which section (Kudos or Sucks) of my website I shall dedicate to your product. |
They wrote back on October 28, 1997:
| We're sorry that you have not had the service that you have a right to expect from our product. We are sending a pre-addressed, postage-paid mailer for you to return your watch for a replacement at no charge. Please allow 5-7 days for delivery. Thank you, Vicki, C/S. |
I got it a few days later, returned the watch to them and within about a week, had a new watch in my hands. Great service!!
UPDATE!
In December of 1999 I broke the Twist-o-flex band
I had on that same watch, and when I tried to buy the band I
wanted from Wal Mart, they didn't have the right size (to fit the
watch). So I again wrote to customer support. This time it did
take a few emails to get across to the the band I wanted, but
they were very responsive. I got the new one several weeks later
with a bill for $8. Excellent.
