Hello Mr. Bodett,
I just wanted to tell you about an experience I had at the Jeffersonville
Indiana motel 6. My wife (who happens to be in a wheelchair due to
diabetes and renal colic failure) and I rented a room number 118 on Dec. 8 which is
a handicapped room. We went out for the night and returned to the room at
approximately 1:30 am. I called the front desk and asked her for some
pillows and explained the blanket had cigarette burn holes in it and asked
for a late check out since my wife was in a wheelchair. Well she said she
had no pillows, they were basically all locked in housekeeping and she
couldn't get any, as for the late checkout I would have to ask the manager. I
said ok I will call them in the morning. I then asked for an 11 am wake up
so I could call them.
At 11:00 am I called the front desk and talked to Melody ( she claimed to be
the assistant manager ) and asked her if we could get a late checkout and
she said no. I then stated my wife was in a wheelchair and said couldn't you
make an exception for her because of this and she in a very hateful tone
said too bad then she paused and said ok I will give you 15 mines extra. Well
I was pretty upset and ticked off. I am sure you would be too if someone
showed that lack of compassion towards your wife if she was in a wheelchair.
After I got my wife cleaned up and dressed Melody finally called back and said
the manager (Lance ) said you can leave at 1 pm. I said I already have her
dressed and we will be out in a few minutes. I then asked for the corporate
number and she said when you check out you can have it which upset me even
more.
Needless to say I was fuming by this time. I went in the office and yes
because of the way I was treated I rather slammed the key on the counter and
told the asst. MGR to tell my wife she wasn't allowed to have a late
checkout. The manager was on the phone and told me to leave or he was
calling the cops on me, I did apologize to them for slamming
the key down. I then asked him for the corporate number and he said leave
now or I am calling the cops. I said all I want is the corporate number he
then said, "Go find the number yourself. " I then saw a brochure on the
counter I figured that would have the number and took one.
I then proceeded to wheel my wife to the car and on the way out he said, "Hope you find another motel besides this one." I said, "I am sure I will
because I wont be back" While I was loading my wife into the car he came
and looked into the room I guess to check for damages. I the asked, "Is there
any damage?" He said, "No, I don't see any". He then wrote my license plate
down, what for I have no idea. Then he continued by saying they haven't had a
complaint in 3 mos.
Anyway, Mr. Bodett, My wife and I feel we was treated very poorly and the
comment made by Melody was very discriminatory and we think that this matter
should be handled by your corporate office. I have faith in that you will
see this through for us and will make us want to come back to motel 6 sometime
in the future since we are now planning a trip to California to see my
family.
Sincerely yours
William and Paula Kimbler
PS
I wish a happy holidays to you and your family from us in North Vernon,
Indiana.
