I had to make a crutch to hold the mast up because of the crazy horn I mounted on the cabin hatch. The mast no longer is able to lie flat on the cabin to bolt it to the tabernacle, so it has to be in the crutch. The crutch is also needed to give the mast winch enough angle to work.

It uses a simple hook here to hold it to the stern rail. I couldn't find a hook that wasn't a wood screw type and I wanted it to bolt on, so I bought a threaded u-bolt and cut one end where the threads started.

This is a piece of flat bar, commonly called a mending patch. I bolted it to the end of the 1x6 and then I pass the extended end through my rudder mount. I attach a small bolt with a nut to keep it from swinging out.
